INFRASTRUCTURE
Anywhere - Anytime Model
Typically, the model in most Cartwright schools has been to create a separate computer lab (connected to the library) and a computer class with a set of desktops. The district gradually moved toward a more integrated approach in purchasing mobile labs with iBooks. Unfortunately, this approach has failed in many schools, because a combination of poor classroom management and untrained teachers has led to quick deterioration of the equipment. In addition, administrators failed to realize how long it would take for teachers to set up the mobile labs. With this in mind, the Cartwright Preparatory Academy will take a different approach to facilities. For technology integration to occur, teachers need instant access to computers on a daily basis. It would be absurd to schedule days when students have books, pencils and papers. Similarly, students should have access to a computer in any technology-integrated class at any time.
