Social Voice Video

We live in a culture dominated by video. From five-hundred channel cable television to the millions of YouTube videos, we tell our stories through video. The camera can capture an element of the emotion that our writing cannot express. At the same time, we realize that there is a danger in being too entertaining and that video can have harmful effects on society.

We will begin various video projects starting in August. For the most part, we will attempt to do two "small videos" per week. This could be a social satire, a puppet show or an interview. In addition, we will begin planning our two larger video projects.

So, what should we choose as our documentary? What should we choose as our film? When can we work on creating the various video projects (given our strongly academic focus in class)?

These are the types of questions we will explore in-depth during the first week of school.
